Believe it or Not: Medvescak Plays Phantom Game!

Medveščak beat Admiral 3:2 on Monday in an exhibition game. Medveščak did not play a game on Monday. One of these two statements is correct, the question is, which one?

On the KHL’s official website, a “phantom” score sheet was released in which the Bears beat fellow KHL debutants Vladivostok after a shootout. However, according to club spokesperson Ranko Vučinić and Medveščak’s Twitter profile, such a game was never played. Indeed, in Zagreb they are strongly denying such allegations…

According to the announcements, after Sunday’s game against Olimpija, Monday was supposed to be a day off for the players, a chance for an optional training or to hit the pool in Maribor. However, the Russians did in fact release a score sheet.

How, why? It remains a mystery. Maybe some Russian was checking the official statistics and accidentally published a non-existent score sheet, or maybe instead of being at the pool the Bears were in Tabor Hall…

If you must know, Murray and Linglet score the phantom shootout goals, and Vesce and Walker scored during regulation.
